In the near future in FIGUIG we will start with implementing a programmable irrigation system together with the local community and, the local farmer.
Figuig is a very old town consisting of seven Ksours (historic castles) and date palm plantations, characterized by original cultural heritage based on solidarity and social cohesion, which still allows a rational use of natural resources until now. The area is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Figuig is a historic oasis full of palm trees. More than 200,000 pieces are spread in and around the city. Water from natural sources is distributed throughout the city and surrounding area with an ancient and complex system of irrigation canals and basins, to irrigate fields and allow vegetation to flourish. Dates grow on the palms and every year, in the fall
Figuig needs innovation and development for a sustainable future
